Record funds raised despite the economic crisisJust like in previous years, Allied's 2011 Christmas dinner was not only a warm "family gathering", but also turned into a generous gesture of solidarity towards those who are less fortunate. The entire takings from this year's Lottery again went to support Unicef reception camps in the Congo, which have been working for years to remove children from the streets and weapons, patiently rehabilitating them to a peaceful life. The fund-raising provided a welcome surprise, especially considering the difficult economic crisis that is affecting more or less everybody: the response exceeded our every expectation, resulting in the largest amount ever raised. Unicef was represented by Mr. Giovanni Girardi, who read out a message of thanks from the president, Mr. Gianni Cuminetti, who was unable to attend in person this year.
