Allied International and Italian National Singers Football Team together to support Life

Football match between the Singers and Valtidone Solidarietà teams provides the Comune di Nibbiano with 8 life-saving defibrillators - 2013-05-18

“In goal per la vita” (“Scoring for life”), an extraordinary football event took place on 18th May 2013 at Nibbiano sports ground. The famous Nazionale Italiana Cantanti (Italian National Singers Football team) took on the local players of Valtidone Solidarietà with the aim of protecting hearts in the Nibbiano area through the purchase and installation of a defibrillator in each of the villages of the municipality.

The idea originated from Valter Alberici, president of Allied International, as part of the initiatives focusing on social responsibility towards the area occupied by the Allied Group.
Alberici’s suggestion immediately attracted the support of the charity association “Il Cuore di Piacenza Onlus” (The Heart of Piacenza) chaired by Dr Daniela Aschieri, who, in 1998, together with Dr Alessandro Capucci, founded Progetto Vita to try to prevent sudden death from cardiac arrest. The National Singers team, led by their chief executive Gianluca Pecchini, decided enthusiastically to support the project inasmuch as it aims to increase survival rates from cardiac arrest through the provision of early defibrillation equipment and by spreading the message amongst the population about the importance of fast action in a cardiological emergency, while Cristiano Grandi’s charity association Action&Passion for peace dealt with the organization and coordination of the event.

The National Singers team, which counted amongst its players its manager Luca Barbarossa and coach Sandro Giacobbe, as well as celebrities like Marco Masini, Paolo Belli, Neri Marcorè, Paolo Vallesi, Niccolò Fabi, Alessandro Casillo, Antonio Maggio and many others, also included players like the volleyball champion Luca Cantagalli and Aldo Vitali, director of the weekly TV magazine Sorrisi e Canzoni. The Valtidone Solidarietà team, managed by the mayor of Nibbiano Sandro Alberici and strengthened by the presence of ex premier league players like Daniele Moretti and Pio Piovani, also included the president of the Provincial administration, Massimo Trespidi, three mayors from the Val Tidone area, another great volleyball champion Hristo Zlatanov, exponents of Progetto Vita and a strong group of Allied International employees, captained by the president Valter Alberici.

The sporting event was also an opportunity to commemorate Fausto Braghieri, long-time employee of Raccordi Forgiati and organiser of many local fund-raising events, who died suddenly only a few days before the match. Fausto’s wife and daughter were presented with a commemorative plaque by mayor Alberici, the president of the Provincial administration Trespidi and the singer Niccolò Fabi.

For the records the match ended with a 6-5 win for the National Singers team, but the score at an event of this type was the least important thing because over 50 players and the public who supported them were all winners together in the challenge for solidarity.
